About Us
HealthRose is dedicated to helping you achieve your best by focusing on wellness and exploring the cause(s) of your illness. It was founded by Dr. Rose Bilotta, the first Public Health Specialist in Canada to be certified with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) in 2013 with the first pioneering graduating class of North America, as an Institute of Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP).
Dr. Rose Bilotta has achieved four board certifications, two in Canada and two in the United States. She is appointed as Adjunct Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto since 2004.
Dr. Bilotta is interested in preventive medicine, reducing patient risk factors, and promoting the well-being of patients and the community. At the University of Toronto, she completed a Bachelor of Science, a Masters of Health Science in Community Health and Epidemiology, and a Medical Degree, followed by a five-year residency in Public Health and Preventive Medicine (a Royal College of Physicians of Canada Specialty).
In 2003, during SARS, she was the only graduate of the Public Health and Preventive Medicine Residency program at the University of Toronto. She was hired as Senior Medical Consultant for over 8 years with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s Public Health Division. She was part of the Medical Group assisting the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Ontario for outbreak investigation and management, provincial on-call duties and policy assistance.
As Senior Medical Consultant for the Chronic Disease Department of the provincial government, Dr. Bilotta chaired the 2004 Chief Medical Officer of Health Report entitled Healthy Weights, Healthy Lives. Dr. Bilotta was a member of the Ontario Advisory Committee on Genetics as the Public Health Division Representative, working on the Newborn Screening project. This committee work contributed to the expansion of Newborn Screening to 27 rare genetic disorders in 2005, resulting in Ontario having the most comprehensive program in Canada.
During the 2005 provincial outbreak of salmonella associated to bean sprouts, Dr. Bilotta facilitated a real-time provincial study on Salmonella and Arthritis, with the University Health Network (UHN) and health units across Ontario, which resulted in two publications in 2008 linking gut polymorphisms of Toll-like 2 receptors to arthritis.
In September of 2009, Dr. Bilotta presented to Public Health Ontario’s new ideas in epidemiology on Pandemic H1N1 and Host Resistance – Exploring nutritional status and polymorphisms to explain differences in susceptibility. In March of 2010, she presented to the Public Health Agency of Canada’s Office of Biotechnology, Genomic Medicine and Population Health. Dr. Bilotta is currently in private practice using her broad education and training to help patients find causes to their illness using a functional medicine model.
HealthRose is dedicated to help you achieve YOUR BEST.

"The Functional Medicine model is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness. It requires a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors and leverages that data to direct personalized treatment plans that lead to improved patient outcomes."
